EnviroInfo 2025: Green Delivery Analytics at the Heart of Sustainable Urban Logistics
The 39th EnviroInfo Conference took place in Potsdam from September 17 to 19, 2025. As part of the Informatics Festival 2025, the event was held under the overarching theme “Open Data, Open Science, and Open Society for a Sustainable Future.” In addition to the main track, other thematic areas were highlighted, including Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability, Sustainable Data Centers, Green Coding, and Sustainable Digital Infrastructure.
As part of the Main Track, a presentation titled “Green Delivery Analytics: Advancements in Open Data for Sustainable Last-Mile Logistics” was given. The discussion focused on current challenges and potential solutions in the field of urban logistics, which (due to growing shipment volumes) is considered costly, inefficient, and a major source of emissions. It was emphasized that sustainable concepts can only be implemented through data-driven strategies. The central role of open data sources in designing sustainable delivery processes was particularly emphasized.
The presentation also introduced a catalog of open data sources for urban logistics, which serves as an essential foundation for further research. In addition, a prototype architecture for the integration of heterogeneous data was presented. This architecture is designed to ensure that different data standards, licensing terms, and communication protocols can be accommodated. This underscored that interoperability and open data are crucial factors for the sustainable transformation of the last mile.
The project’s vision is to integrate data on logistics operations and complex traffic situations in the future, use this data for further analysis, and make the results available through Mobilithek. This will contribute to an open scientific and societal discussion that aligns seamlessly with the objectives of EnviroInfo 2025.
